Our continuing mission, to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations
Social Studies
Throughout the school year your students will be studying the United States past. We will begin our school year studying European Explorers and their contributions to the creation of a new nation. The next topic we study is early settlements which include the Pilgrims landing at Plymouth, Jamestown, and Roanoke. As settlements further evolved we then move into the Thirteen Colonies, and finish up the year with the Revolutionary War.
In addition to US history, students will be enriched with Young Ameritowne activities. Students will experience election activities to elect representatives to lead the town, and each student will have an opportunity to apply for a job of their choosing. During the job application process, students will be required to create a resume, fill out a job application, and prepare for an interview with representatives from State Farm. After students have completed the application process and been hired for a job, they will have additional training to make a profitable business. While at Young Ameritowne, students are required to perform all business tasks, balance personal banking accounts, and create a profitable town.
